Mattea - Employed at Octapharma Plasma Donation Center

Mattea was hired at Octapharma Plasma Donation Center, on January 16, 2017. According to her supervisor she is catching on well, screening clients and although she is quiet, she is a good fit to the team. After 90 days on the job he sees potential for her to apply for a phlebotomy position in the future and be eligible for employee benefits. Mattea is so excited to be living in a new place and supporting herself now at a full-time job. With her family and friend’s support she has been doing well in the Salt Lake Valley area.

Mattea is a very bright, responsible, enthusiastic, active young lady. She likes the Green Bay Packers NFL team, golfing, hunting, camping, volunteering, helping others, traveling, getting to know new people and loves to learn new skills. Mattea had a wrist injury from golfing last September taking her away from 3 summer jobs. She was encouraged by Jamie her VR counselor and Deborah her Innovative Harbor Employment Specialist, to study for her exam while recovering from surgery. Mattea had no problems scheduling her own appointment to take the exam and applying for jobs with guidance from Deborah.

Mattea has a background in the CNA program from Dixie Applied Technology and Phlebotomy program from Dixie State University. She gained years of experience in customer service positions while obtaining her education. When returning home to Monticello after graduating she decided to retake the Phlebotomy Technician Exam in October. Mattea passed her second attempt for the Phlebotomy Technician Exam with Deborah’s assistance in getting the right accommodated services and location. Deborah also helped her update resume information with each new job. The placement process grew more exciting to Mattea when she received a couple of job interviews.

Innovative Harbor's services helped Mattea by advocating for her needs and reducing her anxiety through a focused job plan. Mattea has shown that her diagnoses of Intellectual Development Disorder, anxiety, and Galactosemia doesn’t affect her determination to achieve her goals.

Thank you Jamie her VR Counselor and Deborah our Employment Specialist in Blanding.
